Happy Valentines day!
My hubby decided to SPOIL me this year!
My favorite flowers, favorite chocolates, and the SWEETEST handwritten card ever!
Not pictured, he also got me Godiva dipped Chocolate strawberries and the special edition of Breaking Dawn Part 1 with the authentic prop flower!
WELL! Let's get down to what I really want to blog about today. I just read THIS article about United Airlines and their new policy changes to the way that they fly pets. Basically, instead of paying the flat rate that they have been charging for YEARS, (around $300) they will now be shipping each animal as "cargo" with prices for larger pets fetching up to $4,000 in charges!
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!
As if PCSing overseas isn't expensive enough for service members, they want to stick it to us with this cruel new policy.
Mr. Dogtags is lower enlisted and we have 2 full size German Shepards. At the $4,000 price, it would cost us 5-6 months salary just to cover the dogs airfare! NOBODY can pay that much. We are outraged, especially since service members do not have a choice when it comes to orders. They go where they are told!
Make your opinion heard!
Visit United's Facebook Page and join the hundreds of other service members
who are already voicing their concerns on the page. Hopefully United will see just what severity of hardship this will place on service members and either waive the rules for them or not follow through with this policy at all.
I can already predict that this will result in thousands of pets being abandoned and left behind during PCS season...not because their owners don't want them, but because of the unrealistic price tag.
