Hell Week & Saying Goodbye

Saying that my last week in Texas has been hell would be an understatement.

I started packing two weeks ago. TWO. WEEKS. AGO.

I did this for several reasons. One, because I know that with my husband gone it would be a challenge to pack our entire life up by myself. Two, because I am a "Type A" organizational freak and I like things to be done early rather than running around in a panic at the last minute.

That being said, I turn my keys back in to the apartment management on Monday morning, and I am sitting in my apartment with still a considerable amount of cleaning left to do. A big "Thank You!" to my father-in-law Jay for helping me move my king size bed and my dressers into my storage unit. So sure, the apartment is empty now...but when it comes to cleaning things, I want things to be done a certain way and lets just say it takes me a while.

I'm freaking out a little.

Now, aside from the stress of being on a time crunch let me tell you what has also made this week miserable.

Chris broke his phone yesterday. Yep, the brand new $400 phones we just got a few months ago. T.Mobile only allows you to add the warranty to your phone within the first 14 days after your phone purchase.
Did they tell us this? Absolutely not.

So you can imagine the horror and absolute annoyance I felt when I called T.Mobile and was ever so politely advised that a replacement would be at full cost- $399.99

Oh joy!
Well that's going to have to wait a little while.

So now not having that line of communication with Chris is adding to my stress. Usually when I am stressed he can calm down with just a phone call. He just always knows what to say. I thought about over-nighting a new phone to him...except that it would be just our luck that all parcel services have been ceased at his location since they are shutting down the post next week. They can't receive anything. So basically that means he won't be able to get a new phone until he is transferred to his new post in a little less than 2 weeks. :( For now he is borrowing other people's phones so that he can call me but the calls are kept very short. I only heard from him ONCE today, where as usually he calls me 4-5 times a day.

Oh well, I'll just have to deal with it I guess.

Not only am I moving this week, but my dad, AND my mom are also moving this week. Nope, they don't live together, so yes, that makes 3 moves in one week.

Yesterday my mother called me and it was the final day for her to move out. She had everything packed, just didn't have anyone to help her move the huge stuff like her couch, her queen size bed, her dresser, etc.

So guess who was the only person that offered to help her? Yep, that would be me. Did I mention that it was pouring down rain??? Umm, yea I will probably have a cold by tomorrow.

Not only did I help my mom move, it was around 4pm when I actually  made it to her apartment to help her. Why? Because I was up since 7am moving all of MY things.

Let's just say by the time I was done with everything yesterday, my arms and legs were jello.

Lastly, I am still slightly nervous about my 24 hour car drive that I will be making in a few days. The farthest I have ever driven alone was about 9 hours... I know I can do it it's just going to be a challenge with a 50lb german shepard in the car with me. HA!

This has been one of the exhausting and frustrating weeks of my life, but I keep a positive outlook because I will soon be near my husband and will be getting to see him pretty often.

Can't complain about that. <3

Saying goodbye to Texas will be bittersweet. Chris and I have lived here for our entire lives and think that it is one of the greatest states in the US.

While it is sad to think about leaving everything comfortable and familiar, there is a certain level of excitement of spreading my wings and moving on with my life.

While I will miss friends and family dearly, I can't help but be excited for change and for a new chapter in our life and our marriage. Where some people are afraid of change, I embrace it.

The hard part is now over. All that is left is to patiently wait for my departure from Texas here in just a few more days.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In!

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In
(Be sure to link up over at Wife of a Sailor)

  1. This week, it’s all about the “or’s”… just make sure you tell tell us why!
Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook! Twitter is ok, but it is just not as fun or user friendly as Facebook is in my opinion. Facebook makes interacting with your friends a lot more fun!

Hard Tacos or Soft Tacos?
Mmm. Tacos in general are delicious, but I have to admit I am a sucker for a crunchy hard shell taco!

Gardening or crafting?
Crafting. I absolutely love gardening but I have to say crafting is higher on my list. I love making all kinds of things, like wreaths at Christmas time, centerpieces and flower arrangements for weddings and other events, etc.

Fruit or vegetables?
Fruit! I am addicted to fruit, it is my absolute favorite thing to eat. All fruit, any fruit. I love them all.

Motorcycle or bicycle?
I grew up on the back of my daddy's motorcycles growing up, so I would have to say I prefer them!

Slightly Stressed!

I'm sorry I haven't posted since Friday, I have been slightly stressed!

So, as you all now know, I have a big cross country move coming up over the next week.

I looked at my "To Do" list today and just about cried.

I am getting a taste of the hardships that military wives often face, like moving across the country on their own!
I have to say I have taken this challenge head on with confidence. :)

I have so much to do and so little time.

Please pray for me!
