Recovery Day #3

Happy Armed
Forces Day!!!

"This is the day on which we have the welcome opportunity to pay special tribute
to the men and women of the Armed Forces... to all the individuals who are in the service
of their country all over the world. Armed Forces Day won't be a matter of parades
and receptions for a good many of them. They will all be in line of duty and some
of them may give their lives in that duty."

Trip to the ER.

Well, I had every intention of writing a blog post yesterday...that is, until I had to be rushed to the hospital.

I don't want to go into the gruesome details, but let me just say that even though I am not pregnant, I now know what child birth feels like. NO, that is not my opinion, that is what the doctor told me-based on the level of pain I was in. I was actually having "contractions" and oh my god I never want to go through that again.

The pain had me completely incapacitated from 0200 until I got morphine shot around 1530. Talk.about.agony.

Thankfully after the ultrasound they did on me, they figured out what was causing my pain and gave me morphine. Let me tell you my pain was so severe, the morphine barely put a dent in the pain. There wasn't much more they could do for me, the problem had to "work itself out"

I thought I was dying!

I am home now. The Army was very quick to get my husband on the phone so that I could tell him the situation and that I was going to be ok.

I am very very sore from the pain in my lower abdomen yesterday. I am going to take a few days to rest up and hopefully return to the gym routine starting next week.

If you do want the details I would be happy to share. Just let me know. lol.

Victory Concerts- Musical Motivation for the Military

If you are a military spouse, you may have heard of Victory Concerts.

Ft. Sill, OK

Victory Concerts is run by Debby & Eric Horner, a wonderful married duo that selflessly put on concerts for our military. They tour all around the country performing for soldiers in basic training, DOD events, USO events, and more.

Go to their website at www.victoryconcerts.com to see the biography, merchandise, tour schedule, and testimonials for this wonderful group.

Their concerts not only boost morale among those in uniform, but are a wonderful gift to the families as well.

They will be performing for my husband's BCT unit this Sunday, May 22nd.

Update: CVS Fiasco

If you read my last post, you know how frustrated I am at CVS.

Well, I am happy to report that after calling my Doctor, Walgreens, AND Tricare South, I finally got the situation straightened out. Tricare reported the local CVS and filed a complaint.

My doctor re-wrote my prescription and called it in to a different pharmacy.
Like I said, I will never use CVS again.

What a headache all this has been.

On another note, my husbands unit Facebook finally posted some new pictures of his company.

I told him in one of my letters a while back that if he saw the photographers, to try his best to get into the shot.

He listened!

I blurred the rest of the picture so its easy to spot him.

Little things like seeing him in a picture really help me get through my week.

We are finally on the downward slope towards his graduation. I am so excited to be in his arms again!

CVS Mishap = Annoying

So, a month ago when I went to my doctor I was prescribed birth control for health reasons (which is quite common), not necessarily to prevent pregnancy.

So that day, I took my prescription to my local CVS and had them fill my prescription.

When I was handed that package, It felt very light. I asked the pharmacist if my entire prescription was in there, she said that my prescription was for 3 months worth of pills, but that this was only 1 months worth. She said that I would need to refill my prescription at the end of each month...

I am new to the birth control scene, so I accepted her answer and left.

Now, a month later I am about to take my final few pills. In an effort to be proactive, I went into my CVS account online to refill my prescription and received this message:

"It is too early to refill this prescription. Please refill this prescription no sooner than July 20th, 2011."

I instantly call CVS pharmacy to rectify the obvious error. When a pharmacist answers the phone I very politely explain to her that there must be some mistake because I have in fact, only been given 1 month so far. She looked at my account on her computer and explained that according to their records they dispensed all 3 months worth last month. Here's how that went:

Me: WHAT?

Me: "NO, you did not. I only received ONE months worth and I am about to take my last pill. I NEED my new pack."

CVS: "I'm sorry ma'am, can you drive up here and bring your prescription receipt and your pack that you are on now?"

Annoyed, I said "sure" and drove 10 minutes to CVS.

What a waste of time,

When I got there, I handed everything over and she walked behind the counter. She then proceeded to go to the shelf and pull all the boxes of that particular brand off of the shelf and dump them out. I knew what she was doing...she was counting inventory.

I was thinking in my head "YES! This woman is smart and she is going to figure out that they screwed up my order. Thank goodness.

Little did I know that she would soon walk back over to me, hand me my prescription and my almost empty pack of pills, and say this:

"According to our inventory, we have the exact number we should have if we would have dispensed you 3 months worth. I'm sorry"

WHAT? She then proceeded to basically call me a liar to my face. So, where did those other 2 months worth of my pills GO? Did someone keep them for them self? I said "Look, thanks to my wonderful insurance(tricare) my prescription is only $9. I can assure you I have money and have absolutely no reason to lie to you."

She said "I'm sorry ma'am." and walked away!

I. WAS. FURIOUS.

Not only did she call me a liar, but she was completely unwilling to investigate the situation any further, nor rectify their mistake and give me what I paid for.

I normally don't make huge deals out of mistakes like this but I did NOT want to have to call my doctor and ask for a whole new prescription...

I stormed out of the store and as SOON as I got home, I called the MANAGER of the whole store. I asked him if there were security cameras behind the pharmacy counter. He said yes. I then explained the entire situation, and asked him if he would be willing to view the tape from that date and see that they only provided me with 1 month worth. He suddenly changed his tone and said that the cameras in the pharmacy are focused on the registers only and they don't capture what happens in the dispensing aisles. I find this really hard to believe. He assured me that the pharmacists were all very professional and well trained. This also made me mad because it seemed as though he also did not believe my story and had no beliefs that his pharmacists had made a mistake. Showing no interest in reviewing the tape, he ended the call and hung up.

So now I am PISSED.

Now I have to wait until Monday morning, call and bother my doctor and hope she will re-write my prescription.

I can assure you I will not be using CVS Pharmacy in the future.
